Inauguration of the Breastfeeding Cabin in the Basilica Administrative Unit of Zapopan

The Municipality of Zapopan, in its ongoing efforts to promote health and equality, has taken another step forward by inaugurating a new lactation room in the Basilica Administrative Unit. This milestone follows the creation of similar spaces in strategic locations, such as the Zapopan Comprehensive Service Center (CISZ), the Las Águilas Administrative Unit, and the Foreign Affairs building. The completion of this project has been possible thanks to the collaboration and active participation of Nuvola, a company committed to the health and well-being of the community.

A Commitment to the Health and Dignity of Families

Starting this Monday, public servants and women who visit the Basilica Administrative Unit during their breastfeeding period have a specially designed space available for this vital activity. Marcela Preciado García de Quevedo, director of the City of Girls and Boys of Zapopan, emphasizes that the installation of these lactation rooms is part of the municipal strategy to strengthen health and guarantee dignified treatment for families.

"These types of booths are very easy to install, as they meet all the requirements for breastfeeding for the public servants who work here. What better way to do this than by providing them with a clean and hygienic place to do so," García de Quevedo emphasizes.

Features of the New Lactarium in the Basilica Administrative Unit

This lactation room is presented as a comfortable and safe space for breastfeeding mothers. It features an ergonomic seat and a mirror, providing essential amenities. Furthermore, measures have been incorporated to ensure the privacy and safety of users. The lactation room also has a refrigerator for mothers to store expressed milk. Adequate ventilation and lighting, as well as electrical outlets, complete the facilities.

"This lactation room will not only be useful for the public servants who work at Unidad Basílica, but will also be accessible to women who come to the downtown area. These spaces also build community, and we continue to demonstrate that our vision is focused on children and where we want to provide equal opportunities for all," emphasizes Chief of Staff Paulina del Carmen Torres.

Nuvola's Role in the Project: Connecting and Dignifying Breastfeeding

Nuvola, recognized for its commitment to health and well-being, has played a crucial role in the implementation of this lactation center. Its participation reflects a dedicated approach to connecting with and dignifying the breastfeeding experience. The company has contributed not only to the physical installation of the cabins but also to the comprehensive support of a project that seeks to transform and improve the breastfeeding experience.

Moving Towards Equality and Social Inclusion

By opening spaces like this, the Municipal Government of Zapopan is advancing its goal of promoting equality, social inclusion, and respect for human rights. Furthermore, health promotion is a key aspect, since breastfeeding, according to the World Health Organization (WHO), offers cognitive and health benefits for both babies and their mothers.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) highlights that in Mexico, many women face barriers that limit their ability to breastfeed, with returning to work being one of the main reasons mothers stop breastfeeding their babies. By implementing lactation rooms in public buildings, Zapopan seeks to eliminate these barriers and create an enabling environment for mothers to continue providing the best nutrition for their children.

In short, the opening of the lactation room at the Basilica Administrative Unit of Zapopan not only represents a significant step toward equality and health, but also highlights the importance of the active collaboration of companies like Nuvola. These spaces not only provide physical comfort but also build a community committed to the well-being of families. We celebrate this achievement, which reflects a collective focus on a healthier and more equal future.
